TWIN CITIES LIVE - KITCHEN STAR CONTEST
OFFICIAL RULES
1.HOW TO ENTER: NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. In order to enter, from 9:00 a.m. (CST) on Monday, January 8, 2010, through 11:59:59 p.m. (CST) on Friday, February 5, 2020, go to the www.twincitieslive.com website, click on the "TCL’s Kitchen Star " icon, and complete the entry form, which includes uploading a 3 to 5 minute video of you cooking your favorite recipe; the entry must also include your recipe. KSTP-TV is not responsible for problems accessing the website, technical or atmospheric conditions that disrupt the completion of the entry, or any other problems which might or might not result from this contest. Any person submitting more than one entry or an entry longer than 3 to 5 minutes and/or not including the recipe may be disqualified. Limit one entry per person; one finalist per household.
2.HOW TO PLAY/HOW THE WINNER IS CHOSEN: In order to enter, from 9:00 a.m. (CST) on Monday, January 8, 2010, through 11:59:59 p.m. (CST) on Friday, February 5, 2020, go to the www.twincitieslive.com website, click on the "TCL’s Kitchen Star " icon, and complete the entry form, which includes uploading a 3 to 5 minute video of you cooking your favorite recipe; the entry must also include your recipe. From the entries submitted, a panel of judges composed of TCL producers and Cub foods employees will, in their sole discretion, determine six (6) finalists based on, but not limited to, each contestant’s: (a) ability to ad-lib and be engaging on camera; (b) ability to cook and talk at the same time; (c) ability to simplify a recipe for television purposes; and (d) creative and simple recipe choice. The six (6) finalists will be selected on Monday, February 8, 2009, and the finalists will be notified by email and/or telephone. Each of the six (6) finalists when then be given assignments as to what five recipes they will need to prepare for each of the daily challenges (i.e., breakfast dish, dish using avocadoes, etc.) and will be given a $100 Cub Gift Card to go and shop for their dishes. Each finalist must stay within the $100 budget for the week. The winner will then be determined as follows:
a.Monday, February 15, 2010: The six (6) finalists will be asked to appear at the Twin Cities Live Studios with their prepared dish per the assigned challenge for Monday, February 15, 2010, to appear on Monday’s 3:00 p.m. live show. Each finalist must bring his/her home made dish with them in order for it to be tasted. Each dish will then be scored live on Twin Cities Live by a panel of three (3) judges consisting of a Cub Foods representative, John Michael Lerma (cookbook author and chef) and Matt Quist (restaurant chef) based on three (3) categories: taste, creativity and presentation. Each category will be assigned a score from 1 to 5 (1 being the worst, 5 being the best), and the person with the lowest score will be eliminated; the remaining finalists will be asked to come back on Tuesday to compete again. In the event of a tie, the judges will be asked to vote for their favorite between the finalists who are tied.
b.Tuesday, February 16, 2010: The five (5) remaining finalists will be asked to appear at the Twin Cities Live Studios with their prepared dish per the assigned challenge for Tuesday, February 16, 2010, to appear on Tuesday’s 3:00 p.m. live show. Each finalist must bring his/her home made dish with them in order for it to be tasted. Each dish will then be scored live on Twin Cities Live by a panel of three (3) judges consisting of a Cub Foods representative, John Michael Lerma (cookbook author and chef) and Matt Quist (restaurant chef) based on three (3) categories: taste, creativity and presentation. Each category will be assigned a score from 1 to 5 (1 being the worst, 5 being the best), and the person with the lowest score will be eliminated; the remaining finalists will be asked to come back on Wednesday to compete again. In the event of a tie, the judges will be asked to vote for their favorite between the finalists who are tied.
c.Wednesday, February 17, 2010: The four (4) remaining finalists will be asked to appear at the Twin Cities Live Studios with their prepared dish per the assigned challenge for Wednesday, February 17, 2010, to appear on Wednesday’s 3:00 p.m. live show. Each finalist must bring his/her home made dish with them in order for it to be tasted. Each dish will then be scored live on Twin Cities Live by a panel of three (3) judges consisting of a Cub Foods representative, John Michael Lerma (cookbook author and chef) and Matt Quist (restaurant chef) based on three (3) categories: taste, creativity and presentation. Each category will be assigned a score from 1 to 5 (1 being the worst, 5 being the best), and the person with the lowest score will be eliminated; the remaining finalists will be asked to come back on Thursday to compete again. In the event of a tie, the judges will be asked to vote for their favorite between the finalists who are tied.
d.Thursday, February 18, 2010: The three (3) remaining finalists will be asked to appear at the Twin Cities Live Studios with their prepared dish per the assigned challenge for Thursday, February 18, 2010, to appear on Thursday’s 3:00 p.m. live show. Each finalist must bring his/her home made dish with them in order for it to be tasted. Each dish will then be scored live on Twin Cities Live by a panel of three (3) judges consisting of a Cub Foods representative, John Michael Lerma (cookbook author and chef) and Matt Quist (restaurant chef) based on three (3) categories: taste, creativity and presentation. Each category will be assigned a score from 1 to 5 (1 being the worst, 5 being the best), and the person with the lowest score will be eliminated; the remaining finalists will be asked to come back on Friday to compete in the final event to determine the winner. In the event of a tie, the judges will be asked to vote for their favorite between the finalists who are tied.
e.Friday, February 19, 2010: The two (2) remaining finalists will be asked to appear at the Twin Cities Live Studios with their prepared dish per the assigned challenge for Friday, February 19, 2010, to appear on Friday’s 3:00 p.m. live show. Each finalist must bring his/her home made dish with them in order for it to be tasted. Each dish will then be scored live on Twin Cities Live by a panel of three (3) judges consisting of a Cub Foods representative, John Michael Lerma (cookbook author and chef) and Matt Quist (restaurant chef) based on three (3) categories: taste, creativity and presentation. Each category will be assigned a score from 1 to 5 (1 being the worst, 5 being the best), and the person with the lowest score will be eliminated; the remaining finalist will become the winner of this contest. In the event of a tie, the judges will be asked to vote for their favorite dish.
3.CLAIMING YOUR PRIZE: The winner will receive his/her prize on Friday, February 19, 2010, at the conclusion of the competition as outlined in Paragraph 2 above. When claiming the prize, the winner must prove he is a qualified winner by presenting identification acceptable to the sponsors (e.g., state drivers license; state issued identification card; valid passport with address verification; or birth certificate with social security card and photo identification and address verification).
4.PRIZE: There will be one (1) winner in this contest. The winner will receive a $2,000 Gift Card from Cub Foods, and will be given the opportunity to become an occasional unpaid cooking segment guest on Twin Cities Live. Twin Cities Live reserves complete discretion over the scheduling, appearance, airing and content of the winner’s appearance(s). No regular or ongoing guest appearance is guaranteed or assured. The prize is not transferable or exchangeable. A qualified winner must also meet the eligibility requirements as set forth in Paragraph 5 of these rules. All income taxes and other taxes are the responsibility of the winner. A 1099 form will be submitted to all appropriate taxing authorities. The prize must be accepted in its entirety, and cannot be divided or accepted in part. This gift certificate is subject to all applicable policies, practices and procedures of Cub Foods.
Odds of winning are dependent on the number of eligible entries received.
5.ELIGIBILITY: Individuals must be 18 years or older to be eligible to participate in this contest. Employees of Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc., KSTP-TV, LLC and Cub Foods, including their subsidiaries, affiliates, parent or related companies, and their immediate families, are not eligible to enter.
By entering this contest, each entrant is certifying that the submitted video is his or her own original work, and that he or she has the right to allow the airing of the video without restriction, and that KSTP-TV's use of the video will not infringe the rights of any third parties (e.g., copyrights, rights of publicity, etc.).
6.CONTEST DEADLINE. All entries must be received by Twin Cities Live no later than 11:59:59 p.m. (CST) on Friday, February 5, 2010. KSTP-TV is not responsible for problems sending the entry, technical or atmospheric conditions that disrupt the completion of the web site entry, or any other problems which might or might not result from this contest.
8.RELEASE; CONSENT TO USE LIKENESS, VOICE AND ADDRESS: The winner must execute an affidavit of eligibility. Each person entering this contest (a) agrees to release and indemnify Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc., KSTP-TV, LLC and Cub Foods (including their subsidiaries, affiliates, parent or related companies) from and against any and all liability, claims, damages and actions arising directly or indirectly out of or sustained in connection with the awarding, acceptance or use of the prize(s), and (b) consents to the use by KSTP-TV for promotional purposes only of his likeness and/or voice, address (city and state) and his or her contest entry (which may be posted on the KSTP-TV website and/or shown on the air) without any additional compensation. By accepting the prize, the winner agrees to be bound by these official rules, including the above release.
9.WINNER LIST: For the name of the winner, send a separate self-addressed, stamped envelope before March 31, 2010, to Winners List, Twin Cities Live, Kitchen Star Contest, 3415 University Avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota 55114.
10.MISCELLANEOUS:
Decisions of KSTP-TV concerning any and all matters with respect to this contest shall be final. KSTP-TV reserves the right to change these rules, as well as the terms and conditions of this contest, without notice. If the sponsors determine in their sole discretion that the integrity or fairness of this contest has been corrupted in any manner, the sponsors reserve the right to terminate the contest and to select a winner from among entries legitimately received prior to termination. KSTP-TV reserves the right to change the prize values at any time, or to substitute prizes of comparable value. Contest void where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable. KSTP-TV is not responsible for printing errors in the contest materials or these official rules.
